I’ve always wanted to be a “morning person.”
You know the type: wakes up early, drinks water, journals, works out, meditates, and still has time for a slow cup of coffee before work.
Me? Well, I usually hit snooze three times and scroll TikTok until I realize I’m late.
So I decided to see if AI could fix my mornings. I opened ChatGPT and asked:
“Can you design me the perfect morning routine?”
Here’s what it gave me (and what happened when I tried it for a month).
ChatGPT’s Morning Routine
The plan it suggested looked something like this:
- Wake up at the same time every day — even on weekends.
- Hydrate first thing — a glass of water before coffee.
- Move your body — 15–20 minutes of stretching, walking, or light exercise.
- Mindfulness — 5 minutes of journaling or meditation.
- Eat a balanced breakfast — Don’t skip or rush through it.
- Plan your top 3 priorities for the day — before checking email or social media.
Honestly? It was a lot more reasonable than I expected. No 4 a.m. alarms or ice baths. Only healthy, structured habits.
Week 1: The Struggle
The first few days were rough.
Waking up earlier meant fighting the urge to scroll on my phone in bed. I was also skeptical about journaling (honestly just felt cheesy) and struggled to actually sit down for breakfast.
But drinking water first thing? That one stuck immediately. I felt way less groggy.
Turns out, this one is backed by science (insert water good article lol)
Week 2–3: Settling In
By the second week, the routine started feeling less like a punishment and more like a rhythm.
- Stretching for 10 minutes and drinking a glass of cold water woke me up better than coffee.
- Journaling turned into quick brain dumps. Nothing poetic, just clearing out the clutter of my mind.
- Planning three priorities kept me from spiraling into busywork.
I still slipped up some days, but overall I felt sharper and calmer.
Week 4: Did It Stick?
After a month, I wasn’t perfect.
I skipped exercise on busy mornings and sometimes rushed breakfast. I definitely had a cup of coffee before water here and there.
But compared to my old habit of starting the day on autopilot, the change was huge:
- My energy levels stayed steadier.
- I felt more intentional with my time.
- Mornings became something I looked forward to instead of dreading.
What I Learned
- Keep it simple. The AI didn’t overload me, which is why it worked.
- Micro habits > all-or-nothing. Even 5 minutes of journaling mattered.
- Flexibility is key. Missing a piece of the routine didn’t ruin the whole day.
Final Verdict
Would I let ChatGPT design my mornings forever?
Welllll…not exactly.
But the routine it gave me was a solid starting point.
A month later, I’m still drinking water first on most mornings, journaling for a few minutes, and setting three priorities each morning. The rest? I’ve adapted to fit my life.
Turns out, the AI morning routine wasn’t perfect. But it was good enough to change my days.
